Ecology and Hygiene
Insieme a Voi per aiutare l’ambiente
Welcome to “Lo Spada Rooms B&B”. Our house, and therefore also the Bed and Breakfast was inaugurated in 2021. And we are thrilled.
Ecology, Eco-sustainability and Hygiene are areas and practices that have always been particularly close to our hearts. We are therefore happy to tell you and tell you how we behave to achieve high quality standards.
Our house has enjoyed a complete and radical renovation from the autumn of 2019 to the beginning of 2021 to be transformed into a B&B, with all the comforts we want, and we are pleased, to find when we are traveling.
All the furniture is new, and especially those of the rooms designed for our guests. In fact, each room is furnished to measure with the help of the skilled hands of local artisans, entirely created with eco-sustainable materials, such as iron, wood, cotton, both to respect the environment and to support the local economy, but above all to rejoice in the wisdom and talents of the local Sicilian workers.
We did not, however, miss 2/3 pieces of our grandmothers, furniture that always knows are with us and have followed us from Ferrara.
Hygiene
The accurate cleaning of the rooms is carried out daily (unless otherwise required) with water, detergents and the application of disinfectants commonly used in hospitals such as sodium hypochlorite to 0.5% and ethanol to 70%, which replaced the ecological detergents to comply with the anti-covid regulations, ensuring everyone a safe stay.
In addition, the surfaces are treated with steam.
All the linen used in the structure (sheets, towels, bedspreads, pillowcases…) is entrusted to the company tutonet.it
The company has “voluntarily received a certification for microbiological testing of treated textiles: the UNI EN 14065 standard is a preThis is an essential requirement to ensure that accommodation establishments are supplied with high-quality and hygienically safe linen, including from the point of view of the control of its bio-contamination.
In other words, in order to prevent the spread of diseases communicable by pathogens, the industrial process of textile sanitation, in addition to sensory cleaning and comfort, must ensure quality and hygienic safety, obtained precisely through the application of the technical standard UNI EN 14065:2016 based on a control system RABC ( Risk Analysis and Biocontamination Control)”
The garden furniture is cleaned daily, as well as the rooms, with water and detergents and the application of disinfectants commonly used in hospitals such as 0.5% sodium hypochlorite or 70% ethanol.
The pool, also built in 2020, is monitored and sanitized daily.
At this time of health uncertainty we decided to safeguard our health and our guests, preferring the products indicated by the DPCM for greater protection of all, unfortunately failing to use organic products, which we hope to be able to introduce again as soon as possible.
Eco-sustainability and more
Eco-sustainability is an important and actionable value for us. For this reason, we have committed ourselves, even during the restructuring, to the use of recyclable materials, and attention to energy saving technologies.
The fabrics used in our home are all natural, just as solid wood has been used wherever possible, coming from sustainable production and felling and from recycled cuts.
We have installed a secondary hot water circulation circuit so that the water is not wasted at every opening waiting for the arrival of the hot one.
In addition, the mixers that we have chosen for our home, for which also for the bathrooms of the rooms reserved for our guests, develop the Energy Saving system to limit the waste of energy: you have the activation of hot water, and the boiler, only when the tap lever is completely on the hot water side.
And again, all taps are equipped with flow limiters to avoid unnecessary waste, without ever losing comfort for the user.
The grass. We made the choice to use, in the solarium, a synthetic grass carpet. This choice, almost obliged to this latitude, was born with the aim of limiting as much as possible the waste of water for the irrigation of natural lawn for the sole aesthetic purpose. We chose a synthetic grass carpet made from recycled rubber from used tires.
During the renovation, we tried to use as many local suppliers as possible.
So we also do for daily supplies, preferring small local companies, both for the quality of the product, both to reduce the delivery mileage and packaging.
We pay the suppliers’ invoices within 48 hours of receipt of the document because we know how important the cash flow is for the life of small craft businesses, and they repay us with the assistance and quality of the product.
We encourage our guests to shop locally to support their economy, promoting attractions, restaurants, small shops, and special places to visit.
We ourselves regularly visit theaters, restaurants, shops and local attractions.
